What is a Clinical Psychologist?
A Clinical Psychologist is a clinician providing assessment and treatment of developmental or mental health issues. The methods used by Clinical Psychologists are based on scientifically validated research and evidence.
What training is required to be a Clinical Psychologist?
Clinical Psychologists qualify by undertaking a doctoral qualification involving both research and supervised clinical practice.
What to expect when consulting a Clinical Psychologist?
During the first session the Clinical Psychologist will typically gather information and explore ideas with the client to gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation. They will then present an initial assessment and ideas about how to assist. If the client is happy with this approach a plan will be made to meet for a set number of sessions to work on specified goals.
What will happen when I contact you?
I will provide a free telephone consultation where we will discuss your concerns and I will explain how I work. I will also present alternative avenues for support e.g. local CAMHS service. You will be advised to explore all the options and give me a call back if you wish to arrange an initial appointment.
What are your fees?
Fees are available on request. I am authorised by a range of healthcare providers if you wish to claim on your private health insurance.
